Post the Mahabharata war, Lord Krishna was about to leave back to Dwaraka after saving the to-be-born child Prareekshith from Aswathama's Brahmasthra by getting into Uththara's womb. For his aunt Kuntidevi, it was her 4th generation being protected by the grace of Krishna. Out of sheer gratitude to the Lord, she falls at His feet and does this highly devotional stuti. She tells Krishna that you're not just a nephew to me, but the Supreme Being, who has come in this form to protect me and my family. She narrates all the instances where the lord has stood by her and her sons t(he Pandavas), their wife Draupadi, and grand-children protecting each of them whenever they faced danger. She concludes that having trouble in life is indeed a boon that it forces one to be in constant thinking of the Lord and his Grace.
She ends the stuti with an overall wish that let there be no other thought than the Bhakthi to Krishna, that takes her to salvation like how a river ultimately flows into the ocean. She bows to Krishna by chanting His 10 different names in the last Shloka - 1.Sri Krishna, 2.Krisha-sakha, 3.Vrushnya-rushabha, 4.Avanidhrug rajanya-vamsha-dahanaa, 5.Anapa-varga veerya, 6.Govinda, 7.Go-dwija suraarthi haraavathaara, 8.Yogeswara, 9.Akhila Guro, 10.Bhagawan
One striking takeaway from this stuti is for us to pray with gratitude to the lord each time. Rather than giving new petitions... spend a minute recollecting how the divine grace has touched you, saving you from your past troubles. Such recollections solidify the Bhakthi that one should develop.
The popular sloka "Krishnaya Vaudevaya Devakee nandanaaya cha.." that every kid chants at every household is from this famous stuthi.
Recollect HIS Grace - Each Day, Every Day !!
